12 seed words with the cardano chain are for the old byron wallets that don't support smart contract. Does the wallet address start with addr?

Won't help, but it is, of course, totally possible that they derive Shelley keys and addresses from 12 seed words. Eternl even offers restoring/importing 12 word Shelley wallets. You could try it, there, if it opens your wallet from TW without the need to transfer.
