Has there been any information flow back from some forks to Dusk's implementation, i.e. did open source do its thing that everybody profits from open and free collaboration?
some, not much. The best example was the Tailofbits exploit, which was not exactly too problematic, but a nice thing to fix. Mainly the other forks are for experimenting with different configurations and swapping parts of the algorithm to solve a problem specific to this or that project
