Not really, security is the most important factor Elrond tested things in a public & highly dispersed geographical environment, with random computers we know nothing about (as is of course the case in decentralized networks) - we saw that "lazy" computers could cause disruption, slow-downs, etc. Elrond decided to be 100% focused on security and stability, so we debuted with a 6s latency. We could probably decrease to 5, maybe even 4? The lower you get, the more risk you take. Elrond has 3200 nodes located all over the world, finality takes 27 seconds for intra-shard transactions, ensuring the network has time for all confirmations to take place. No double spends, no unconfirmed transactions, a decentralised, secure network, we wouldn't want it any other way, would you?
